The latest addition to Lufthansa’s centenary livery fleet, an Airbus A350-1000, emerged from the paint shop this week wearing the special scheme.

The Airbus, which is to be registered D-AIFA (c/n 799), is also the first -1000 variant of the European-built widebody due for the German flag carrier.

Due for delivery in a “few weeks”, the aircraft wears to all-blue scheme which features a white XXL crane and the lettering “1926 | 2026” and “100”.

The Airbus A350-1000 is scheduled to be transferred from Toulouse to Munich this autumn. Until then, several test flights, further work on the aircraft’s interior, and the final acceptance inspection are still pending.

The A350-1000 will bear the registration number D-AIFA and the name “Deutschland.” An official naming ceremony is scheduled to take place at a later date. The widebody is due to be the 700th aircraft that Airbus has delivered to the Lufthansa Group.

The new A350-1000 is the seventh aircraft in the Lufthansa fleet to feature a special livery commemorating the airline’s 100th anniversary. Already in service on long-haul routes are an Airbus A350-900 (D-AIXL), an Airbus A380 (D-AIMH), a Boeing 787-9 (D-ABPU), and a Boeing 747-8 (D-ABYN), as well as two short- and medium-haul Airbus A320neo aircraft (D-AIND and D-AING) featuring this special design.

Lufthansa has 15 A350-1000s on order and expects to receive deliveries from this year through to 2030.
