American Airlines has unveiled seven new international routes for 2027, just days after United Airlines announced its largest-ever international expansion.

Philadelphia will gain three destinations: daily A321XLR flights to Porto from March 28 and Vienna from May 6, followed by a daily Airbus A321neo service to Reykjavik from May 27. Porto and Vienna are new destinations for American, while Reykjavik returns to its network for the first time since 2019. The carrier will be the only US airline serving Vienna, with the extended-season route continuing into January 2028.

New York/JFK will receive year-round daily A321XLR flights to Amsterdam from March 28 and seasonal service to Nice from May 6. American will also restore a fourth daily JFK–London/Heathrow frequency on March 28, operated by a premium-configured Boeing 787-9. Together with joint-venture partner British Airways, it will offer up to 14 daily New York–London services.

Elsewhere, Charlotte gains daily seasonal Boeing 777-200ER flights to Barcelona from May 27, while the previously announced Chicago/O’Hare–Tokyo/Narita route starts on March 19 using a 787-9.

American expects to operate more than 80 peak-day transatlantic flights to 23 European cities during summer 2027. Its A321XLR network will encompass five transatlantic routes, including its existing JFK–Edinburgh service.
