Croatia Airlines has taken delivery of the first Airbus A220 to wear the full Star Alliance colour scheme.

The A220-300, 9A-CAS (c/n 55465), Velika Gorica, arrived at the carrier’s Zagreb base on July 29 following delivery from Airbus’ Mirabel facility in Canada. Configured with 149 seats, the Griffin Global Asset Management-owned aircraft became Croatia Airlines’ tenth A220 and its eighth example of the larger -300 variant.

The Pratt & Whitney PW1500G-powered jet’s distinctive black-and-white scheme highlights the flag carrier’s membership of Star Alliance, which began more than two decades ago. Croatia Airlines said the aircraft would operate across its network while representing both the airline and the alliance.

Fleet expansion continued just two days later with the arrival of an eleventh A220. The 149-seat A220-300, 9A-CAU (c/n 55473), Slavonski Brod, is named after “one of Croatia’s most important cities”, the airline said. Its addition increased the airline’s A220 fleet to nine -300s and two 127-seat A220-100s.

Three further Airbus A220s are due before the end of 2026. The renewal programme is expected to conclude in 2027, when Croatia Airlines plans to operate 15 examples: 13 A220-300s and two A220-100s.
