Airliner World October 2004

In the May 2024 edition of Airliner World Boeing 747, a true aviation icon, is slowly becoming a rare sight in the skies. Once the backbone of major airlines worldwide, the number of 747 Classics is dwindling and Babak Taghvaee takes a closer look at the operators who still fly these earlier variants of the ‘Queen of the Skies.’ Continuing our exploration of the 747, Qantas pilot Owen Zupp shares a captivating tale of flying the jumbo on the legendary Kangaroo Route between London and Australia in the early 2000s. Sticking with classic Boeing airliners, we head to Zimbabwe, embarking on a trip on one of the few remaining airworthy passenger 737-200s.
