Latvian flag carrier airBaltic has announced a smaller, more Riga-focused network in summer 2027 as part of its wider restructuring.

The airline’s summer programme, running from late March until late October 2027, will comprise 57 direct destinations from Riga, 13 from Tallinn and eight from Vilnius. The changes represent a marked reversal from the expansion pursued in recent years, with Riga reinforced as airBaltic’s principal hub. At the same time, Tallinn and Vilnius increasingly support selected point-to-point services.

Lithuania will see some of the most significant reductions. AirBaltic is expected to offer ten routes from the country – eight from Vilnius and two from Palanga – compared with more than 20 during summer 2026. From Vilnius, Amsterdam, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Lisbon, Munich, Paris, Riga and Tallinn will remain.

Capacity is instead being concentrated on stronger-performing markets. Riga-London/Gatwick will increase to up to 14 weekly flights. Paris/Charles de Gaulle and Vienna will each receive up to 12. Barcelona, Rome/Fiumicino, Hamburg and Düsseldorf are scheduled for daily service.

The changes come as airBaltic marks its 31st anniversary. Founded on August 28, 1995, the airline operated its first commercial flight from Riga to Stockholm on October 1 that year using a Saab 340. Since its establishment, it has carried more than 70 million passengers and built a network of 26 codeshare partners, offering access to more than 200 destinations worldwide.
