Philippine Airlines has signed a memorandum of understanding with Airbus for nine additional A350-1000s, with purchase rights for five more.
The agreement, announced at the Farnborough International Airshow, follows the carrier’s firm order for nine A350-1000s in 2023 and would double its commitment to the type to 18 aircraft.
It comes a day after Philippine Airlines committed to purchase 15 Boeing 787-10 Dreamliners, with purchase rights for a further five.
Speaking at a press conference at the show, Philippine Airlines president Richard Nuttall confirmed that the latest A350-1000s are scheduled for delivery in the early 2030s.
“The majority of those aircraft are basically for replacement, and then the additional aircraft, should we choose to take them, would be for expansion,” Nuttall said.
The Manila-based carrier’s legacy widebody fleet currently comprises ten Boeing 777-300ERs and 11 Airbus A330-300s.
Philippine Airlines also operates two A350-900s, delivered in 2018 and 2019, and has begun introducing the larger A350-1000. Its first example was handed over in December 2025, followed by a second aircraft during the first half of 2026.
